What classes are available?

There are a number of programs available that can be completely subsidised by Diabetes Victoria, Diabetes NSW or Medicare that can help you get back into a healthy routine to better manage your diabetes and other chronic lifestyle conditions.

BEAT IT

Beat It is an eight week program that involves moderate intensity strength, aerobic and balance based exercises as well as education sessions on healthy living. To participate you must be able to commit to the eight week program (2 sessions per week).

This life-changing program is completely subsidised by Diabetes Victoria / NSW, and can help you get back into a healthy routine to better manage your diabetes and other chronic lifestyle conditions.  FIND OUT MORE –

Medicare funded Diabetes Group Services

Flexout Health offers year round access to group-based exercise programs for people with type 2 diabetes via our Medicare subsidised Diabetes Group Services. This eight week-program is subsidised by Medicare & consists of eight, one-hour exercise sessions involving a combination of aerobic & resistance-based exercises. To check eligibility, speak to your doctor about accessing a ‘Group Allied Health Services under Medicare for people with Type 2 diabetes’.

The sessions involve a combination of aerobic and resistance-based exercises, with each individual also having an assessment with an exercise physiologist prior to starting the sessions and an individualised exercise program will be developed.

Diabetes maintenance programs

Flexout Health also offers maintenance 1:1 and group diabetes fitness programs which may be self-funded or rebateable through a private health fund, or subsidised by other third party funding streams.

Who are the diabetes programs for?

The diabetes exercise and lifestyle programs are for individuals who have a diabetes diagnosis and are registered with the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS). Whether you have exercised before or need some help getting started, the programs will tailor individual exercises to your specific needs within a friendly and supportive environment. The programs are open to all ages and for individuals at any stage of their diabetes journey.

How do I get started?

If you are interested in a diabetes exercise and lifestyle program at Flexout Health, you can start with either the Beat It (which runs only on specified dates throughout the year), or the Medicare funded Diabetes Group Services program. You can register your interest for Beat It via the QR code overleaf, or be referred to the Medicare funded services directly by your GP. When do diabetes programs run?

Class timetables vary. Please contact your nearest clinic directly to find out the available time slots for each location.

When do the programs run?

The Beat It programs run on various dates throughout the year in eight week blocks. You can check the National Diabetes Support Service (link https://events.ndss.com.au/) website for more information about when the program is next available in your area. The Medicare funded Diabetes Group Services and individual maintenance programs run year round and can be accessed any time. Contact your nearest clinic for more information.

What if the class time doesn't suit me?

If the class time doesn’t suit you, please still book in for an initial assessment with one of our Exercise Physiologists and they may be able to recommend another class, or provide you with a home exercise program.

Beat It

The Beat It program is fully subsidised by Diabetes Victoria / NSW. There are no out of pocket costs.

Medicare funded diabetes group services

The initial assessment and 8 group exercise sessions are billed as a package & cost $99. This is directly subsidised by Medicare provided you are eligible & have a current referral from your GP. Additional sessions available & claimable on private health funds as well as through other funding schemes.

Our Diabetes Maintenance Programs are self funded. Contact your nearest clinic for more information.

Is there a cancellation policy?

At Flexout Health, we understand people get busy and from time to time, emergencies come up and things change. If you cannot keep your appointment, please call us as soon as possible so we can reschedule your appointment.
